Ron, who was previously the owner of Axminster Tools and Machinery has been in the home since February, and by all accounts has missed singing with the choir so they decided to ‘…bring the choir to him’.
The Axe Valley Choir has been going since 2009 when a summer BBQ led to a conversation about a desire to ‘… enjoy singing in a way other than the formal ladies’ choir or a choral society’. After drumming up some support the choir was founded and they now rehearse every Friday evening from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Whitford Village Hall.
Under the lead of musical director Edward Jacobs, the choirs’ repertoire includes a mix of modern and traditional ballads; a list of their upcoming events can be found here – but keep an eye out for more.
Their recent performance at The Seaton Care Home was a success and was enjoyed by the choir and the residents alike, so much so that they will be returning for another performance this Christmas – but don’t be too disappointed if you can’t get access to this exclusive gig, because there will be plenty of other festive performances by the group, so keep your eyes- and ears peeled!
